High Holidays 2020

IMPORTANT INFORMATION – PLEASE READ

We look forward to seeing you for the start of the new year and hope you and your families are doing well during this challenging time.

This year, we are again offering an exciting array of traditional services, inspiring classes and High Holiday experiences. There will be three tracks taking place at different times and you can choose to come to one or all three.

In order to offer a safe setting with required spacing and still accommodate all who wish to attend, we are offering several seatings. Most of the sessions will be held outside in a large canopy tent and will be limited to 25 individuals/family units, seated 7 feet apart in pre-assigned seats. There will be some small indoor sessions, all limited to 10 individuals/family units, seated 7 feet apart in pre-assigned seats. Both venues will comply with regulations established by Montgomery County for religious organizations.

Everyone attending must sign a waiver in advance and agree to wear a facemask with their nose and mouth covered at all times. There will be hand-sanitizing stations for your use. We will provide cleaned prayer books, to be placed in a designated box after the service.

All attendees MUST agree to comply with these rules and policies. As always, we welcome your attendance, but regrettably, we will not be able to accommodate walk-in guests.

Seat reservations will be accepted in the following order:

  • Renewing members – priority until September 1 (end of day)
  • New members – priority until September 6 (end of day)
  • Non-members

We will make every effort to accommodate as many people as possible and to make best use of our limited seating areas. If a class or service is oversold, we will strive to make additional classes or services available.

Track 1:  Traditional Service

Our user-friendly services are brought to life with lively and moving melodies (limited this year because of COVID-19 restrictions). Led by special guest cantor Ezra Kohn and our own Tom Triebwasser. Services will take place outdoors in a spacious tent. Spots are limited to 25 individuals/family units. Registration required.

Track 2:  High Holiday Experience

Enjoy a compact, meaningful High Holiday Experience. Sit outdoors in a spacious tent and enjoy short, powerful TED-Talk-style classes, hear the Shofar and experience some of your favorite prayers and even your own personal kiddush! We have scheduled two sessions to accommodate everyone. Spots in each session are limited to 25 individuals/family units. Registration required.

Track 3: Inspiring Classes

Open your mind to new possibilities for the year with 30-minute classes on Self-Growth, Relationships, Parenting and Practical Spirituality. Hear from Rabbi Baruch Frankel, Rabbi Stephen Baars, Rebbetzin Ruth Baars and Aish Community members. These classes are scheduled so you can join Track 1 and Track 2 and still participate in a class. NOTE: Classes will take place indoors and spots are limited to 10 individuals/family units. Registration required.

Track 4: Online Pre-Holiday Guide

Don’t feel comfortable joining an in-person service this year? We have something for you, too! We will give you ALL the tools you will need to have a meaningful High Holidays in the safety of your home. Join our interactive Zoom offerings, including:
